NESTING THERAPY
For Anne Vaandrager’s debut short film produced by VPRO Dorst, Studio IOIA was the appointed art department partner. The surreal script was translated into four characteristic sets, each referring to a different state of mind & mood.
The main character Mirte has to participate in a population screening in Doctor Van Weesp's clinic. When the screening reveals that Mirte shows no signs of maternal feelings, she is referred to undergo 'nesting therapy': a therapeutic method to retrieve these (supposedly) suppressed emotions. After all, a woman without any maternal feelings is a threat to society. But when this therapy doesn't appear to affect Mirte, an alternate plan is put into motion to make sure her uterus is safely secured.
